AIT/K accepts tourist/business visa applications (B1/B2) from applicants aged 80 or over and children under the age of 14

Applicants who are at least 80 years old and who are applying for tourist/business visas.

Applicants who have reached their 80th birthday may submit or have a representative submit their applications to the AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office. Such applications will be transferred to AIT Taipei for adjudication.

Children under the age of 14 who are applying for tourist/business visas.

A parent or legal guardian of a child who has not reached his/her 14th birthday may have a representative submit, to the AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office, their child's application, but a parent (and not the representative) must sign the child's application form.  Such applications will be transferred to AIT Taipei for adjudication.  The parent or legal guardian or their representative should bring the child's application (which must have been processed either online or at the APC), the child's passport(s) (including previous/cancelled passports), household registry(ies) that accounts for the entire family, a photocopy of a US visa or any eligible U.S. travel document information on those accompanying applicants to the U.S. and postal receipts.  If the applicant is traveling with a non-custodial parent, relative or friend, please submit a letter of permission for such travel signed either by both parents or legal guardian(s) – we review these depends on a case by case basis.

  1. A valid passport
  2. A DS-156 application form completed in English with one photo attached.  Please include a Taiwan telephone number on the form.  We encourage you to write the local address in both English and Chinese.  Please note that you are not required to write the address in Chinese.  The photo should be 2 inches square (50 mm square), capture the entire face (eyes facing camera), and must have been taken within the past six months.  The head, from top to chin, should measure between 1 and 1 3/8 inch (25 to 35 mm).  The photo should be in color with a white or off-white background.
  3. A non-refundable NT$4,100 visa processing fee must be paid at your nearest local post office.  Our postal account number is 19189005.  The account name is "AIT Visa Processing Fee".  The postal receipt is valid for one year.  The APC service fee is NT$320 per applicant. The APC account number is 19832104.  The account name is “Atos Origin (Taiwan) Ltd.”  In order to assist us with our record-keeping, we ask for you to provide one receipt per individual applicant.  Please bring both receipts along with your documents.
  4. All prior passports. If you do not have your previous passports, then you should present a certified copy of your entry and exit record dating back as early as possible.  This record is issued by the Bureau of Entry and Exit (address: 1st Floor, No. 436, Cheng Kung 1st Road, Kaohsiung City, Tel: 07-282-1400).
  5. If you have had a name change, please bring a copy of your household registry.

You may obtain blank application forms at our office.  You may also use a fax machine to obtain copies of the form.  Please call 886-2-2547-4898 from a fax machine and follow the instructions to receive an application by fax.  All visa applications must be completed in English.

The AIT Kaohsiung Branch Office accepts visa applications by appointment.  Please click here to make your appointment under “Request notarial and other services not listed above.”  Please make travel arrangements as early as possible, because visa processing may take 3 to 6 working days.  

P.S.:

  • AIT reserves the right to ask drop-box applicants to travel to Taipei for an interview when necessary.
  • Anyone with a non-ROC passport must travel to Taipei for an interview. Please use the On-line Application Form (Fill in the form and then make an appointment on-line. No need to visit Application Processing Center.)
