50 Years of Fulbright in Taiwan

Fulbright Program
"The Fulbright Program aims to bring a little more knowledge, a little more reason, and a little more compassion into world affairs and thereby to increase the chance that nations will learn at last to live in peace and friendship."

- J. William Fulbright

The Fulbright Program provides grants for graduate students, scholars and professionals, and teachers and administrators from the U.S. and other countries.

The flagship international educational program sponsored by the United States Government, the Fulbright Program is designed to "increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries..." With this goal, the Fulbright Program has provided more than 250,000 participants — chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study and teach in each other's countries, exchange ideas, and develop joint solutions to address shared concerns.

Administered by Foundation for Scholarly Exchange.

Upon request from a university outside the U.S., a senior U.S. scholar or professional will be available at the inviting institution for a period of two to six weeks. Possible activities include:

  • Presenting lectures at graduate and undergraduate levels
  • Participation in or leading of seminars or workshop
  • Conducting needs assessments, surveys, institutional or programmatic research
  • Taking part in specialized academic programs and conferences
  • Consultation with administrators and instructors of post-secondary institutions on faculty development
  • Development and/or assessment of academic curricula or educational materials
  • Conducting teacher-training programs at the tertiary level.
